A Home For The Lonely

The global pandemic continues to carry on and we are constantly aware of its presence (face masks, closed restaurants, distanced learning, zoom fatigue) there is actually another epidemic that we are not as often aware of. It has predated the COVID 19 pandemic and it will definitely outlast it. It has and will continue to take a bigger toll…

The epidemic of loneliness.

In a 2019 article in Psychology today called “Why Millenials are so lonely” the YouGov report found that 30 percent of Millennials (ages 23-38) always or often feel lonely. About one in five people in this age range say they have no friends, while 27 percent say they have no close friends, and 30 percent say they have no “best friend.” (Lisa Firestone, PHD)

Humans were created to need relational connection (“it is not good for man to be alone… Gen 2:18)

What is God’s heart on this matter?

  • He came to set the opposed free (Luke 4)
  • He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18)
  • He comforts the downcast (2 Cor 7:6)
